A useful word. Covers the whole spectrum from unsettling to magical.
木漏れ日
こもれび — komorebi
sunlight filtering through leaves
No direct English equivalent. One of those words that makes you realise you needed it.
侘寂
わびさび — wabi-sabi
beauty in imperfection, impermanence, incompleteness
The aesthetic that explains most of what I find beautiful.
物の哀れ
もののあわれ — mono no aware
the pathos of things; bittersweet awareness of impermanence
The feeling at the end of a very good book.

Starting with listening comprehension this time rather than diving into grammar tables. The grammar will come — but first I need to stop hearing Japanese as noise and start hearing it as language.
